Description

This country dance was originally submitted as an ensemble piece for our school music competition in 1972. It won :-)

Over the years since then I added a set of variations to the theme and made it into a guitar solo piece.

The audio sample here is an electronic preview using Garritan's acoustic guitar...until such time as a good performance is recorded.

Additional note - first impressions by a professional guitarist friend of mine:
It has a very harpsichord-like feel, in particular the three variations seem to be little pieces "à la manière de": the first one reminds me of the French harpsichordists (Couperin with a sprinkle of Rameau), the second has the style of a Bach "musette" - French but with a German flavour - whereas the third - older in style - has an Italian feel: Frescobaldi with hints of Froberger (his pupil).
