Description

The flats, rhythms, fingering and articulation make it important to take things a bit at a time. Be careful to make the left-hand staccato notes contrast with the driving accompaniment and the smoother melody. So be careful not to "swoop" from beats 2 to 3 and from beats 4 to 1 in places such as the first two measures.

Enjoy the hemiola (cross-rhythm) in measures 20-22, where things seem to fall in groups of three for a while. That gives enough break for the listener to enjoy the return to the rock-like drive at measure 23 and even the "stuck-record" effect in measures 33/4.
