Description

This Etude is composed of melodic passages made entirely out of chords. The succession of top and bottom notes in the chords produce obvious melody lines, but more subtle lines exist when notes from the middle chords are brought out. To be able to play the interesting lines and to allow a smooth flow from chord to chord, the pianist is required to develop flexibility in the finger and the wrist. The exquisitely sweet passage builds up into a triumphant climax in the penultimate page where the left hand is required to produce the chords as well as the pedal notes.
