Transcription & arrangement service

September 1, 2008

Did you ever consider creating digital scores from your hand-written sheet music, creating transcriptions from audio recordings, or perhaps creating a new arrangement from an existing composition (in the public domain or in agreement with the original composer)? MyScoreStore offers a new transcription and arrangement service that helps you create the scores you need; in no time and against attractive fees.

Transcribing music

The best format - though not the only - to publish sheet music online is Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF allows for high quality printing and, with PDF-readers installed on most computers, requires no additional software or plug-ins to be installed by the customer.

PDF can be created either by scanning existing hard copies of sheet music or by using music notation software in combination with a 'PostScript printer' as developed by Adobe.

Scanning existing (hand-written) music is not always optimal. For example, when originals are over-sized, the average scanner cannot do the job and nor will the average customer be able to print the digital (over-sized) end-product properly. Also, unless the hand-writing is perfectly legible, hand-written scores are not preferred by customers.

Processing music with music notation software (transcribing) is therefore the best alternative. MyScoreStore offers you a transcription service creating first-class digitized scores in PDF.

How it works

After sending in music, either by e-mail or regular mail, we then give you our estimates of required time and related costs. Once you agree and have transferred the amount due the transcription work starts. In most cases you will have your transcribed music (both the source file to the music notation software as well as a publishable PDF) within a week.

Although we would very much appreciate you publishing the newly transcribed work on MyScoreStore, this is not a prerequisite. In fact, you are free to use the source file in working with hard-copy publishers and other distribution channels.

Smaller popular works typically take less than a week to process and cost up to EUR 65. Larger works, entire CD's, or any specific request are also possible. Please contact us and let us know about your particular needs.

Should you be interested joining our team of transcribers and arrangers, please send an email to describing your skills and specialty and include some of your prior work.
