Michelle Diehl, composer (b. 1962, Minneapolis), is primarily known for her chamber and orchestral works featuring the violin. Her music is often lyrically eloquent and rhythmically compelling. Ms. Diehl studied theory and composition at the University of Minnesota. She began her music career by learning the organ and piano as a child. She studied violin with Esther Wentzel and Minnesota Orchestra violinist Ladi Stanisha.

As her interest in writing music soared, Ms. Diehl found it necessary to learn the fundamentals of the cello, viola, double bass, flute, guitar, French horn, and mandolin along with a host of other instruments to aide her composing. When she's not composing original works, Michelle is equally comfortable working on arrangements of the works of the great baroque masters and romantic composers.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM), the American Music Center, and the American Composers Forum.

A longtime resident of Minneapolis and Key West, Florida, Ms. Diehl now resides in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
